Greetings and welcome to Myddvai's First Season! Take a look around and let our mod team know if you have any questions!

Our game discord is open to prospective players! We also have a plurk account for this game!

This workshop is the first step into the World of Myddvai and is open to all, along with our current Test Drive Meme!
Player-controlled characters are known as the "Pulled". Pulled will arrive in the game as a Myddvai Breed!

Below are quick summaries of all available Breeds, more in depth descriptions are on our Breeds and Magic Page. Breed choice will affect what magical abilities your character has. All Pulled must arrive visually recognizable as their designated Breed, see "required" traits for each breed to know what makes each distinct! Traits listed as "optional" are potential extra features that suit the breed. We encourage creativity within these guidelines!

Moderation will be on-hand in this post to answer questions and clarify any limitations. Final decision is to be submitted within the application to the game proper. Please choose a Breed that is appealing and comfortable OOCly, first and foremost. This is not an IC choice!
How do you join? Anybody interested can request an invite on our Invites Page! Interested parties do not need to be friends with or know anybody in game, we simply wish to review potential players in advance.

Our current game cap is (30) players, limited to (1) character per player upon joining. 2nd characters can be earned via completing two months of AC! This game has a planned end, concluding in about a year from now. Take a look at our game calendar which accounts for the full run of Myddvai's First Season.

Our Navigation Section has been updated to better reflect what new players should focus on. Anything within the Further Lore section is an optional read! That section is for players who really wish to deep dive into the setting and plot. New players should focus attention on the Getting Started section before joining.

Considering a character with a future tech limb? Aid devices like mechanical limbs or other body parts will be replaced by the Springtide Druids, with Bottle Prosthetics Visual Guide (also in Plain Text Here.)


Available Choices
HUMANS
Height Range: Generally between 5' (~152cm) to 6'6"(~198cm).
Guardian Dragon: Ydris, the Fire Dragon.
Magic Summary: Inner warmth that manifests as innate charm and animal friendship.

Human Traits

Required:
  • Traditional human stuff, you all know this one.

  • Optional:
  • Eye and hairstyles that are unnatural in color or vibrancy! Live your jewel-toned anime hair dreams.


  • GIANTS

    Height Range: 6' (~183cm) to 9'(~275cm) tall.
    Guardian Dragon: Ygrayne, the Land Dragon.
    Magic Summary: Spellcasters that can compel sleep and control dreams

    Giant Traits
    Required:
  • Human face and torso over a faun or centaur body structure, with cloven or hooved feet.
  • A "crown"; a horn or set of horns/antlers/spikes on their temple.
  • Animal tail.
  • Animal ears in place of human ones.

  • Optional:
  • Mix-matched features, inconsistent to a single animal or mythical creature. (ex. Horse ears, with ram horns and a boar body.)
  • Natural equine, caprine, bovine, and/or porcine coat patterns.
  • Unnaturally vibrant or colorful coat patterns!
  • Matching head/mane hair to tail hair.
  • Additional fur at the nape, shoulders, arms, or down the spine.
  • Rectangle or diamond pupils.

  • ELVES

    Height Range: Natural height between 4' (~121cm) and 5'6" (~167cm), but this does not account for their magic.
    Guardian Dragon: Arthur, the Light Dragon.
    Magic Summary: Growing and shrinking of organic matter, including themselves.

    Elf Traits
    Required:
  • Basis in some kind of small, furry mammal.
  • Consistency in traits to a single creature, though some fantasy design choices are allowed. (Ex. a classical "demon" shaped spade tail for a Bat Elf.)
  • Animal ears, typically of a long or upright variety.
  • Paw feet and an animal tail.
  • Garden Elf: Human face structure. (Night Elves can have muzzle faces.)
  • Night Elves have more inhuman features relative to Garden Elves.

  • Optional:
  • Digitigrade legs from the hips, knees, or calves down.
  • Paw hands or clawed nails.
  • Whiskers.
  • Night Elves can have a full body coat of fur.
  • Slit pupil eyes.
  • Sharp, fanged, or bucked teeth.
  • Natural and/or unnatural colorations and patterns.


  • MERMAIDS

    Height Range: Basically anything, so please be reasonable.
    Guardian Dragon: Ygerna, the Water Dragon.
    Magic Summary: Hypnotic gaze which causes euphoria, mind reading and control.

    Mermaid Traits
    Required:
  • Basis in some kind of aquatic creature(s).
  • Human head, shoulders, arms, chest, and hands.
  • Glowing, hypnotic swirl eyes. Can have multiple pupils.
  • Ability to change into a land-functioning form with human legs.
  • Wear a blindfold, mask, or eyepatch over at least one eye.

  • Optional:
  • Human torso down to hips.
  • Mix-matched or inconsistent aquatic animal features.
  • Headfins or frills.
  • Hair replaced with fins/frills/scales.
  • Talons instead of nails.
  • Exoskeleton or shell features.
  • Semi-translucent or bioluminescent skin.
  • Razor-sharp teeth.
  • Natural and/or unnatural colorations and patterns.
  • Boney or skeletal appearing face.
  • Tentacles. Like. Anywhere.


  • RAHUTH

    Height Range: 5' (~152cm) to 7'6"(~228cm).
    Guardian Dragon: Armis, the Wind Dragon.
    Magic Summary: Full body animal transformation and rapid healing.

    Rahuth Traits
    Required:
  • Consistent traits from a single animal, with real life basis.
  • Animal ears in place of human ears.
  • Animal tail.
  • Human hands and face.

  • Optional:
  • Digitigrade or unguligrade legs from the hips, knees, or calves down.
  • Animal paw/hoof/talon feet.
  • Talons or claws on hands and/or feet.
  • Slit or rectangle pupils.
  • Feathers, scales, hide, or fur along arms, down back, neck, or torso.
  • Wings located on back, in human form.
  • Transformation obscured by a tornado-like burst of wind, fog, smoke, or mist. (No obscuring factor and a fully described transformation process is also allowed. Transformation to and from animal form takes only moments to complete regardless of being obscured or not.)


  • EMPYREANS

    Height Range: Generally between 4' (~121cm) to 6'6"(~198cm).
    Guardian Dragon: None.
    Magic Summary: Ability to float weightlessly and transfer that ability to what they touch. Magnets, how DO they work?

    Empyrean Traits
    Required:
  • Features matching to Chaos/Order alignment, should change with IC actions.
  • Body made of metal and stardust.
  • Primarily black onyx, dusty silver, or pearly white coloration.
  • An enclosed halo or broken horns on their head.
  • Two hip or back wings. Feathered or webbed.
  • Two metal leg pillars, without feet.
  • Symmetrical features for Order, asymmetrical for Chaos.
  • Human face and hands.

  • Optional:
  • Plated, ball jointed, or hinged metal framework.
  • Ghostly or diamond thread hair.
  • Sparkles! Vibrant accent colors!
  • Additional arms.
  • Additional eyes, placed anywhere.
  • Pointed ears.
  • Disconnected or broken away head, arms, or other parts.
  • Veined, marbled, or sedimentary layer body patterns.

    Empyrean
    Required Traits:
    - Stone-like body made of stardust
    - Metallic framework holding body together with magical magneticism (2 pillar leg endings, crown that forms halo/horns, 2+ wings)
    - Features that shift with their Chaos/Order alignment, changed by actions
    Order = symmetrical pale/bright features, with halo and wings on feathers
    Chaos = asymmetrical dark features, with horns and webbed or tattered wings
    Optional Traits:
    - Disconnected floating parts
    - Additional wings, possibly one dissolving when leaning chaotic
    - Marble veins that shift back and forth with alignment?
    - Propensity towards the extremes before shifting alignment back
    Height: Varying with halo/horn changes! Real answer, undecided.

    Giant
    Required Traits:
    - Humanoid face and torso over centaur body structure
    - Antlers or horns (elk? mountain goat?)
    - Animal tail (skeletal)
    - Animal ears in place of human ones....?
    Optional Traits:
    - Mixed features to have a more classic horse-like centaur portion, regardless of the antlers/horns
    - If ears are necessary, maybe some fur elsewhere to match?
    - Glowing rectangular/diamond pupils?
    Height: TOL. Maybe 8' or so

    Rahuth
    Required Traits:
    - Traits inspired by a maned wolf
    - Animal ears in place of human ears
    - Animal tail
    - Humanoid hands and face
    Optional Traits:
    - Digitigrade from hips down
    - Paw feet
    - Fur along head, back, arms and legs
    - Transformation obscured by fog?
    Height: About his headcanon height of 6', maybe slightly off with the legs change

    Rarity: 3, because he would want bragging rights (even if about utterly inconsequential things)


    Questions for Mods: Yes. :P

    - With Giants, if the character did not already have ears, is gaining animal ears required?

    - With Empyreans, is this post (halos as blindfold handles = for obedience, horns = broken halos for rebellion) the right kind of vibes for the Order vs Chaos shifting of appearance and attitude?

    - With Empyreans, how solid do the feathers need to be? I'm wondering if they could be the ghostly light described with the hair option, growing more solid and opaque with Order, growing more intangible and transluscent with Chaos.

    - With Rahuth, would illusory snow be an option for obscuring the transformation?

    Belated thanks! I got distracted for a couple weeks there, but these answers are along the lines I expected / hoped. Empyrean's definitely the clearest fit for a skeleton, but I didn't want to pigeonhole the idea there, so thank you for the responses!

    Is the current TDM a May-specific thing, or does it spill over into June / later as needed? I'd still like to poke a toe in there, and see if things seem like a good fit.

    Character Consideration: Zelgadis Greywords (Slayers)
    Breed(s) of Interest: Mermaid (might consider Elf, Rahuth or Giant).
    Required Traits:
    — Basis tail design is seahorse-like.
    — Human head, shoulders, arms, chest, and hands.
    — Eyes have a soft, bioluminescent blue glow, and swirled patterns.
    — Ability to change into a land-functioning form with human legs.
    — Zelgadis normally wears his hair over one eye, but he also has some kind of scarf as part of his normal clothing (that he’s used for ‘cover his face’) that he can adapt into a bandana if/when someone tells him that walking around without eye covering is the local equivalent of ‘carrying an unsheathed sword’.

    My goal for Zelgadis is that he doesn’t get to be human (because that's the most likely way to get him to ditch the quest and do what he wants), and to keep his appearance as close to his chimera form as possible (because it makes icons less of a stretch for me). Mermaid seems to be the best way to do that, since they get scales/exoskeleton bits AND unnatural coloration, while it’s hard to find entirely blue scaly-looking natural critters (which is why Mermaid is winning out on Rahuth). Zelgadis also normally wears his hair over one eye, so adding an eyepatch or a bandana or something doesn't change his look.
    Optional Traits:
    — Fins around his ears that give an impression that the ears are fins.
    — Additional pelvic, dorsal and arm fins. The tail still has the seahorse’s lack of caudal fin and does the neat curl thing.
    — Bioluminescent patterns on his skin, making lines of dots on his body, and outlining fins.
    — Nails and teeth that start growing towards sharp teeth and claws.
    — Keeping his canonical blue, grey and purple coloration.
    — A bony face that keeps the ridges around his eyes and jawline.

    I’m feeling like I want to go hard with sharp claws/teeth, and bio-luminescence and translucent fins (and ears that are more like headfins than Zel’s normal pointy ones). Zelgadis has somewhat gotten used to his current body, and is going to be Put Out that he’s still in a weird inhuman body, especially when ‘human’ was one of the options.

    However, what I do want to keep is both the realization that he looks perfectly normal for this world (barring his gender presentation signaling him as one of the Pulled) AND that the bits of him that are stone are either gone or shifted to bone. I considered and discarded more head frills because having skin and hair that is far closer to human means that his sense of how his body feels (especially as a biped) is a lot close to human, even if his actual appearance is weirder.
    Height: Probably the canon heigh I use for Zel (5’10”)

    Rarity: 3 (I have no idea, so go with middle of the road.)


    Questions for Mods: Clarification. I assume that while mermaids from hips-to-chest up follow a human body plan, things like fins or scales are allowed (a la the example art), as well as weird coloration.

    Also is the swirled eye pattern the full eye or can it be iris only?

    Also, while the single picture of a mermaid in biped form still has her tail, is that typical? Basically how present does a mermaid's tail have to be in their biped form, and does it vary?
